Your Body is Speaking – Are Your Listening?

During my transition process I am learning to listen to my body. Well, today I had a great time at a holiday celebration with my colleagues. Of course I didn’t eat as I did in the past, but I wasnt as diligent as I have been. The results, I haven’t been feeling well all evening. There were a number of sea food items that I enjoy, but did not eat. However, I ate 1 and 1/2 pieces of toast (about 3 inches each) topped with mushrooms & sun-dried tomatoes. I also thought I made a great choice by selecting a gluten-free pasta with roasted veggies & EVOO. Well, it came with parmesan cheese (though not on the menu) and since we waited for a while I didn’t want to send it back. I didn’t eat much so I took most of it to go. I decided to add some veggies to my dish and cut down some of the pasta (even though it was quinoa). This didn’t help much at all. I have been extremely bloated all evening to the point of discomfort. I can’t stop belching & I slight burning in my chest. So, what it my body telling me – something I ate did not agree with my system. Maybe it was the toast or maybe it was the very small amount of parmesan cheese…..whatever it is I do not like this feeling!

Because I was having these issues, I decided to do some research this evening on listening to your body. I have been reviewing food allergies vs. food intolerance. I’ve learned some very interesting things. One of them being that it is not the quantity of item that causes a reaction if you have an intolerance – so if I have an intolerance to dairy a small amount will still affect me. I also received numerous confirmations that it is important to remove certain foods from your diet so you can determine how your body reacts when you introduce it to your diet again. Interesting stuff, well I gotta figure out how to eliminate this comfort! In the meantime, here is an interesting article that address this topic:
